MICHAEL C MAAR

2021-2022 Graduate

Cunae's strong sense of community and its appreciation for academics has played a pivotal role in my personal and academic growth. Cunae has been instrumental in helping me develop the skills I need to achieve my future goals. Looking ahead, I am proud and excited to pursue a degree in Supply Chain & Logistics Technology at the University of Houston's esteemed Cullen College of Engineering and The Honors College. (May 2022)

I recently picked up a Manufacturing Systems minor due to my growing interest in the subject area. I also enlisted with the Texas National Guard as a Petroleum Supply Specialist to gain practical experience and develop new skills. And to further my professional growth and explore internship opportunities, I have gotten involved with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) (March 2023)

BEN GONZALES

2020-2021 Graduate

After graduation, I moved back to Chicago, my hometown, where I am now a 2nd year at the University of Illinois, working on a degree in Computer Science.  Between classes and game making projects on the side, I'm just enjoying university life, and as of now, I'm looking into starting a minor in Business Administration.  I'm also going through the process of searching for internships in the software field for next summer and planning for a year abroad in Japan.  After I graduate, I'm planning on going into software and game development, where I can let my coding skills and passion shine, and hopefully start my own studio someday.

DAKOTA SCOTT

2015-2016 Graduate

After I graduated from Cunae in 2016, I knew I wanted to go into some sort of product design school. I applied to a couple Universities and I ultimately chose to go to Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, Ga majoring for Industrial Design. I completed my first year with flying colors and met a bunch of like minded artists with great passion for what they do. In 2017 I moved to the main SCAD campus in Savannah, Ga to be closer to the industrial design department and have more opportunities for bigger projects down the line.

I have been sketching and 3D Printing a lot recently for my classes. Most classes here are project based and I usually have to create an end product for each class which might be a research presentation or a high fidelity prototype of a product.

School takes up most of my time, but I like to have side projects that I work on here and then. Those are usually weird prototype ideas I drew up or movie props that I hand paint. I also love to cook now since I have my own kitchen and that crepe recipe we used in school is still my go to for making a great batch.

As of now, I am doing interviews and sending out resumes to get a design internship before I graduate in 2020. I plan to work at a company after school for a while to get experience and start my own business venture.

CALI DUNCAN

2015-2016 Graduate

After I graduated from Cunae in 2016, I went to the University of Texas at Arlington for nursing. I am currently in my third year of college and my second semester of nursing school. Nursing school is definitely more challenging than high school or pre-nursing school college, and requires a lot more studying (and 5 AM wakeups). This semester I got the chance to do a clinical in the ER, and I decided that I want to be an ER nurse. After I graduate, I plan on getting my CEN (certified emergency nursing) and going to work in an urban ER in San Antonio. Even though I am in nursing school, I still make time to rock climb and socialize. I have a really nice group of friends at school and next year I am moving to an apartment with some of them. I'm excited to graduate next year and start my career in nursing. (April 2019)

Update: I live in Temple with my husband and two dogs. I work as a surgical trauma icu nurse at a level one trauma center, and recently got my critical care certification. We are planning to move to south Carolina this September. We have enjoyed traveling to national parks over the past few years and look forward to taking more trips soon. (Feb. 2023)

After graduating Cunae I returned to Europe and began my bachelor’s degree in International Business and Management at the HZ University of Applied Sciences in The Netherlands. Thanks to the credits obtained through the IB I was able to jump straight into the third semester of my studies. Throughout my degree I had the chance to conduct an internship in New Zealand, do a semester abroad in Canada and am currently in Munich working in marketing content management for BMW. After I graduate with my degree in June this year, I plan on gaining some further on job experience before continuing with a master’s degree beginning of next year. Though my past years has been filled with excitement, I look forward to having more time for my hobbies and friends.

KEVIN MAAR

2017-2018 Graduate

I was recently accepted into the Semmelweis University’s program for general medicine, in Budapest, and will start my studies this September. I really value the time that I’ve had at Cunae, the supporting and intimate environment combined with an excellent curriculum and outstanding teachers has allowed for me to find my passion for biology and medicine. I appreciate that I was able to attend to an international school because the exposure to multiple cultures has made me a well-rounded person. It will make the transition to Semmelweis University’s own international campus easier and hopefully soften the effect of the inevitable culture shock I will experience when moving to Budapest. I hope to make the world a better place and to help people while studying and doing something that I enjoy. (May 2019)
